Question

importing from Captivate into Presenter or Articulate :(

When I import the swfs into Presenter or Articulate, the swf will play erractically.  The swf alone runs great, but when placed into one of these above programs, it goes crazy.  Has anyone ever ran into this problem before?  If so, how did you fix it.  I haven't published in 5.5 before and never ran into this type of problem before.

You need version 7.07 of Presenter to have Actionscript compatibility with Captivate 5/5.5 produced SWF's.

In the Articulate forums you'll find a workaround to insert CP-SWF's, because Articulate still doesn't support AS3.

My guess is you are using Captivate 5.0 or above.

I have faced the same issue with the swf files - they play as expected in a stand lone environment, but when inserted in Articulate Presenter the video plays erratically.

What I understood from the interaction I had with the Articulate Support team is: Captivate 5.0 and above support Action Script 3.0 ONLY. Whereas, Articulate only supports 2.0 and this is causing the videos to play erratically.

Try one of the below alternatives:

    • Instead of converting the video into flash swf format, try other formats.
    • A very easy workaround for inserting flash files into articulate: http://www.screenr.com/Afh

    Hope this helps!

My guess would be you are seeing a conflict with the ActionScript version of your content.

What versions of Captivate, Presenter, and Articulate are you using?  Do all versions support AS3 SWFs?

If you've previously created SWFs in earlier versions of Captivate such as Cp4, the default output was AS2.  Captivate 5x will only output AS3.  Only the very latest version of Presenter supports AS3, and last time I checked, Articulate was not fully compatible with AS3 content either (though there were workarounds to play it).
