Question

Importing PowerPoint into Captivate

I have a PowerPoint presentation using the plain blank slide Office Theme formatting with bullets on each slide.  I need to convert the PowerPoint file into an eLearning and use the Import tool in Captivate.

The PowerPoint file is 10.67 x 8 and imported into Captivate using 1024 x 768 (as suggested by a recent post).

The result.  On most of the slides the bullets are too close to the text.  While other slides are just like the original PowerPoint.

I have to turn this lengthy PowerPoint into an eLearning every year and painstakingly have to recreate it manually in Captivate.  Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Sharon

hello,

you can see if you can change the size of the powerpoint files in the future, or just try making the captivate file the same as the Powerpoint file do it does not scale.
When you import you can set the project to play automatically or have the user click on the screen.

Or you can try editing the Powerpoint file from within Captivate
You can read more about that here: https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/microsoft-powerpoint.html

hope that helps!

cheers!

Thanks Mark.  I've been importing PowerPoint files for a few years now and they import fairly well, except for the issue of the bullets not lining up as they are in the PowerPoint file.   At first I thought it was the PowerPoint template style, but having used a plain style, I've ruled that out.  Apparently others are experiencing the bullets not looking like the PowerPoint either.  I've been reading up on this issue, including the link you posted, and have consumed a lot of time on this.  I'm now convinced it cannot be resolved.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear that... definitely no fun. Is there a way to perhaps change the bullet points in the Powerpoint File? Or editing them from within Captivate?

How about removing the bullet points and then adding a Shape in Captivate? Easier then recreating everything!

As a last resort you can import the Powerpoint background graphic, then set up the one slide, ad a Click Box on top to advance to next slide, and then Duplicate the Slides (right click the slide or press Control D) then just copy and paste the text from the powerpoint file.
Good luck to you!
