Question

In Captivate 5, when I try to edit closed captions settings in the skin editor my project locks up

I am using Captivate 5 (Windows XP). I cannot edit the closed captions in the skin editor. When I click on Settings, under closed captions, in the skin editor, I see the CC Project Setting box, but no matter what I do, my project locks up (not my computer, just Captivate 5). If I try to change the font size, my mouse turns into a double-headed arrow as I roll over the font size, but once I click, the box disappears and the skin editor window closes, but I still have the double-headed arrow cursor. The only action I can take is to open the skin editor, but if I click on settings, nothing happens. If I close the skin editor, I cannot get it back. The program does not respond at all, I cannot even close it – though my Task Manager does not show it as unresponsive. If I am in the CC Project Setting box and do not attempt to make any chances, but click on either OK or CANCEL, the same thing happens, but my cursor is not a double-headed arrow. This also happens if I create a new project. The only difference is the default font size for new projects is 12 pt, which is okay. The 11 projects I created in earlier versions of Captivate all show a default font size of 8pt, which is too small. Help, I need to increase the font size on all my projects as soon as possible so they are readable!

I am having the same issue, although I have successfully used the skin editor in the past to set up closed captioning.  Now, when I click Settings, it flickers to the Setting box, then the box disappears, skin editor displays as a minimized but available option, and everything freezes.  Tried half a dozen times and on several projects.  Shut down and rebooted and that did nothing to help.  What can we do to resolve this bug?

Try removing the skin from the project, save and close, then reopen and set up a new skin using only skins from your current Captivate version.

I have the same freezing  isuue. apitvate freezes and task manager says the program is waiting for information from me

Windows XP

Accessing skin editor as a workspace seems to have solved the problem.

The same exact issue is happening to me.  When I hover  and click the font size, the cursor displays as a horizontal arrow and then my project freezes.  I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to end the project.  Do you know if it is the operating system or was it something else?

Hello There,

What OS are you in? Are you able to edit the CC settings from the Audio dialog>Closed Captioning>CC Project Settings?

Thanks,

Vish

Hi,

I sent you the information you requested on Tuesday, Oct 19th. I had to send it from my personal account (maspeck (at) yahoo (dot) com) since my work email system does not allow me to attach large files. I want to verify that you received that email.

Thanks,

Michele
