Question

In Captivate 7, is there a way to stop the movie in a particular frame for a set time, then continue playing?

The situation is this: there is a drag and drop exercise the learner has to complete before 15 seconds elapse. After 15 seconds, the slide continues to a "failure" slide. But if the learner completes the drag and drop successfully, the presentation jumps to a "success" slide. I would like, however, to let the learner look at the slide for a couple of seconds before jumping to the success slide.

I don't completely agree with Cozmicone, it would be easier with CP9 that is correct. But I suspect it can be done, not by stopping at a frame but with advanced actions and using the inactive part of the D&D slide, maybe combined with the Timer learning interaction.  You have two actions, one Success and one Last Attempt (you didn't tell how many attempts you allow during 15secs?). The Success action has to continue along the inactive part that needs to be 15secs and could toggle a user variables from 0 to 1. When entering the next slide after the 15secs, trigger a conditional action On Enter, when the user variable = 1 jump to the Success slide, if not jump to the Failure slide.

Thank you Lilybiri! You made me rethink the last part of my drag and drop interaction, and it resulted in a more logical  "ending". I realized that what I wanted the learners to take a last look at was the failure state, not the success state. Doing this was easy, I just had to add a few seconds to the slide while hiding the drag and drop interaction after 15 seconds. In case your'e curious about the exercise, it's a speed exercise - there are 15 items the learners have to sort correctly by dragging them into two bins (drop zones). If they manage to do it before the 15 seconds are up, they hit the submit button and are taken to the success state. If they don't, the drop zones "disappear", but at least they get to see what they missed for a few seconds before they get another try. I was so immersed in the exercise that it took your advice to make me look at the whole thing again, thanks!

I know about such situations where you forget to 'rethink' because you are so immersed in the first work flow. Glad to have been of help.

Thanks! It's update time, I guess.

Unfortunately, you can't do this in Captivate 7. Captivate 9 has a new "Delay next action by" command to advanced actions and would be the only way you would be able to do what you want.
