Question

In LMS I get a Passed rather than a Completed

Missing a setting somewhere…

I am just getting used to Captivate 2 and have encountered something that is puzzeling me.
I use and LMS with Captivate 2 Projects. I have a single lesson where I want to track the points (slide locations) where a student begins and ends the lesson. (This is done with a time stamp in the LMS.) Most everything tracks well in the LMS except one thing.

I want the LMS generated report to show that the lesson was “Completed” rather than “Passed”.

I have 2 slides that are triggers, one at the beginning of the lesson the other at the end of the lesson.
For each of these slides I have settings:

Project -> Quiz Manager:
Reporting Tab Enable Reporting for this Project
Reporting: Learning Management System (LMS): SCORM (1.2)
Reporting: Report Pass or Fail: Report Complete/Incomplete
Reporting: Choose Report Data: Report Slide Views Only
Reporting: Report Score to the LMS as: Score
Reporting: Reporting Level: Only Report the Score
Pass or Fail Options: Pass/Fail Options: 0% or more of total points to pass

I use a button on these two key pages as a trigger:
For each of 2 buttons I have these settings:

Button ->Reporting:
Include in Quiz (marked)
Report Answers (not marked)
Points: “0”

Should I be using this approach? (Is this method correct?) I want to generate a manifest file when I publish. If something isn’t marked as a quiz, a manifest is not generated.

It’s late in the day so I might have missed something simple. Any comments? Feedback? Is there a different method?

Thank you,

TPK

    Hi SShipe,

    What LMS are you inplimenting? We are using Integrity Elearning's WBT Manager.
    I thought the same thing when I began having the trouble. I couldn't find any particular setting saying outright "Pass/Fail" or "Complete/Incomplete".

    I ended up re-creating the course (with Captivate) and paid particular attention to the settings and the problem disappeared. Something like this had happened before and it involved the iis cache not being properly purged of the old lmsmanifest file.

    So, to make a long story short, it appears that re-creating the lesson and making doubly sure the Complete/Incomplete setting was used along with being particular as to the various values that determine Complete/Incomplete are used, seemed to do the trick.

    Thankx for your response,

    TPK,

    I am glad that you got your issue sorted. As I mentioned, we are just now in the process of an LMS implementation so it is a brave new world for us. We are using a hosted solution from KnowledgePlanet as part of their On-Demand Learning Suite, which we simply refer to as the KP LMS.

    TPK,

    Is it possible that there is a also a setting in the LMS that determines how it is reported? I ask because we are in the process of implementing an LMS and as part of entering a course shell in the LMS, there is a field that we select to tell the LMS whether to show the course as passed or as complete.
