Question

inaccurate scoring on repeat attempts

We have a course with 12 questions in a single quiz at the end of the course.

If I launch the course and fail the quiz the first time through, it seems to score correctly.

If I close, then relaunch the course and take the quiz again, this time answering every question correctly, it reports as follows:

Questions Correct: 12

Number of Questions: 12

Accuracy: 0%

Number of Quiz Attempts: 2

I'm not a math major, but 12 out of 12 certainly isn't 0%. That percentage is also sent to the LMS.

We've had other people test and they have gotten different responses. For example:

Third time through, 12/12 = 92%

Sixth time through, 12/12 = 83%

The math does come out correctly sometimes.

What is going on here?

Hi -

Didn't know if you were still looking for a response....

We had this happen too. We are using SABA LMS.

For us, the user needed to completely re-register for the course. We had set each question in the quiz to allowing 2 attempts (so nobody got "stuck" on a question.) Users would get to the end of the course and, having failed, go back to the course beginning to try and take it again.

But since the system was set to 2 attempts, it didn't "read" these additional attempts.

Anyhoos - that was our solution. Not optimal.... but maybe yours is the same issue.

Good luck!

Thanks. That sounds like it's a similar issue.

I'm a little surprised that more users haven't reported this kind of problem, or that Adobe reps haven't come out and offered suggestions.

We've had to abandon limiting the number of retakes. We also discovered we had a question weighting issue that was contributing to this. The weighting issue explained most of the problems, but still can't explain the 0% scenario I described above. That just baffles me.

Thanks for speaking up, Chickster.

These are user to user forums. Once in a while we see Adobe folks pop in, but we cannot and should not count on it. Usually these are the actual members of the Captivate development team. And presently they are extremely busy working on Captivate Next.

The best bet here is to submit a Bug Report or Wish Form depending on how you view things.

Cheers... Rick
