IND CS6 Install "You must sign in..." then grey freeze?

Hi, on week contract in Thailand to demonstrate tech at a new school. Successfully downloaded CS6 for their XP, service pack 3. Activation completes, but freezes on a grey screen after entering Adobe ID. This stays on for hours. Any ideas as I'm SO close and they are getting impatient. Kind regards, James

OK, I no longer have an XP machine up and running, so I'm not sure I can help, but here are a few thoughts. First, I'm not sure if CS6 through a cloud subscription is supported on XP at all, so that might be the root of the problem. Seems to me you would need to have the desktop app installed to do the login and verify the subscription status, and that requires Win7 or higher.

That said, if you think there's a chance that replacing the prefs might help, see Replace Your Preferences, and also check to be sure that both System and the user have full control permission on the two folders in the user profile.

A bit of clarification is probably in order. The link I provided is for InDesign, and you're asking in the Captivate forum, though the title of the question implies to me that you are asking about ID. What I said about support for XP would be true, I think in any case, and the keyboard method for replacing prefs should work on pretty much any Adobe app, though where the prefs files are stored seems to be quite variable, and ID is I think unique in using two folders.

Do they have enough RAM & HD space free?

1g RAM and 70g space within the min reqs. Keep in mind the software was successfully installed, but it just hangs on the "sign in" grey screen which is that last step, after install. ?

I've asked the heavy-hitters if they can help.

Have you tried a chat on the Adobe help page?
