Information On Variables and Usage

Is there a document or page that lists the Captivate variables, what they do and how to use them?

My approach has been to try to use a variable in an Advanced Action, see if it does what I want, it doesn't, try another, it fails, I give up and come to this forum.

I have searched in this forum for that kind of usage document, but did not turn up anything - possibly due to not using correct search terms.
