Input and Output Text Entries

Hey, I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction with my problem..

I've moved over from Authorware and attempting to develop my first CBT in Captivate. I've been scoping these forums (with quite a high success rate on the most part!) for information but I'm pretty stuck on one point.

I need to create a 'login' type form on the first screen for users to enter their names and date of birth (etc). This will probably consist of three text entry boxes. These boxes will have the constraint that they must be filled it before the user can advance to the next page. I will then need to store these 'answers' within the program and then be able to output/display them on a slide at the end of the CBT along with their percent scored.

I've been trawlling the net for days trying to find some form of solution in Captivate or even using JavaScript inside Captivate but all I've come across is some form of answer in Flash. So, any help will be appreciated.

If anyone can help or even suggest if this is possible, that would be great.

Many Thanks.

    Hey Rick,

Thanks for your quick reply. I've already got the Text Input/Output widget, I was just wondering if it was possible within the scope of Captivate.

    Thanks!

    Hi again

Sorry, but that's the only way I'm aware of to accomplish it. I do know that many ask about it, which is why I'm about to suggest what I am. For you and anyone else wishing to see this type of functionality implemented in a future Captivate version, please consider visiting and filling out the WishForm. Believe it or not, it really does go to the development staff. And I simply cannot stress enough how important it really is for folks to submit these. The more requests they see for a certain feature, the more likely it will be to see that feature emerge.

Click here to visit the WishForm.

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi TheronMarie

Pop over to the Captivate Exchange and grab the Text Input/Output widget.

Rick -- can I use this multiple times in a single file somehow? I know I can have one input and use that output on several slides. WHat I want to do is have more than one input and output pairing.

    TIA

    Hey there geeky!

To be honest, I simply don't know. I know I snagged the files when whoever it was that initially offered them up made the blanket offer. I suspect it may not work, as it is probably looking for a specific variable. However, if you have Flash available and know how to use it, I do believe they included the source for Flash. This way, you could create multiple copies using what I would assume are different variable names.

    Cheers... Rick
