Insert highlight at playhead control position

C4: Press F3 to start/stop playback of a slide and stop the playback control where you want to insert a highlight box. The inserted highlight box gets placed at the start of the slide and you have to drag it over to where you stopped the playback control. Isn't it supposed to insert the object where you stopped?

Hi there

My guess is that you are seeing a change in behavior that is associated with the new ability to configure defaults for objects. If you click Edit > Preferences... > Global node > Defaults node you will see that we may now specify mostly timing defaults for objects. So I'm assuming this is overriding the former behavior of inserting at the playhead position.

The good news here is that we still have the ability to sync the object to the playhead. Just right-click and choose "Sync with Playhead" (or press Ctrl+L) and the start point of the object should align with the current position of the playhead.

Cheers... Rick

Should I report this as a bug then?
It works correctly in C3.

Hello again

I think I would. I'm sure the developers will call it a "feature" as they do may issues.

But IMHO if something doesn't work as you expected it to, it's a bug to you and should be fed back to the team as the same.

Ctrl-L works great. Thanks!
Is there a place I can set this as the default behaviour for Highlight objects?
I don't see this as an option under Global, Defaults.

Hi again

Unfortunately not that I'm aware of. I've been on the bandwagon for years to get the developers to allow us to configure defaults. So what we see is a great start, but in my humble opinion, there is still work to be done. You should consider submitting a Wish Form to add your voice to the collective for this feature.
