No. You can only insert slide templates and blocks.  The word 'smart shape' is not used anymore.  Reason is due in the first place to the fact that only responsive projects can be inserted, no individual objects. Those blocks have canned layouts for the three types of screens and you are only able to use the design options which are in the Properties panel.
