Hi - I would like to insert video into a Captivate project, and put text captions around it  some of which appear at different times. I  have obtained a lot of help from various articles on this forum, thank you, and successfully met my criteria by inserting a CPVC slide. The only problem is that I don't wan the video aspect pf th eslide to be in the middle. I'd like to move it to the side and add text captions on the other side. Any ideas?

You are talking about a Video Demo slide, not about a simple video. I will try to give you a solution, but first want to warn about possible problems with synchronisation between the video and the static captions. Is it really not possible to use the Video Demo editor which allows you to add static objects like shapes and captions on the Video Timeline for perfect synchronisation?  Loading time of video (especially when it has also audio) at the beginning of a slide is much longer than for the static objects.

Which version are you using please? Before posting a solution would like to double-check if possible in your version.

Did you read what I wrote about synching? I don't have CP8 anymore, sorry.

You should have to work with rescaling the cpvc slide, a similar workflow I described many years ago for software sim slides:
