Question

Installing Captivate

Hello,

I'm trying to download Captivate. It's a complicated situation- I had it installed but with the change in subscription (being required to have a 12 month subscription) my boss decided to switch this to her credit card. She downloaded and sent me the files to install on my computer. I uninstalled my version and tried to install the new one.

When I try to open the file Captivate_7_x64_LS21.exe to begin the install,  I get this message:

"A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? It's not disk space, as I have over 160Gb available.

And while I'm here, back when I was first trying to find my way around Captivate I made a file that will be used by an internal team. Somehow I clicked a setting that put an arrow on the first page of a published swf, so that you have to click on the arrow and then the course starts. I've tried several times to find where that button was so I could unclick it, but have had no luck. If you know what on earth I did, I'd appreciate knowing!

Thank you for reading. This forum is a lifesaver.

Lynn

Do you have administrator rights for this system?

The arrow you are seeing is the Play button which appears by default when Captivate file is published as a HTML5 output. It is not something you manually put.

Just search for "remove play button in html5" (preferably without quotes) on these forums and you will find multiple discussions on removing it.

This is a work machine and I don't honestly know if I have administrator rights.

The arrow appears when I save as a swf and I'm pretty sure I did put it there, because the course used to start on the first slide. But I'll search on that thread, thank you for suggesting it!
