Inverted Spelling In Properties Panel

Has this ever happened to you?

Occasionally, when entering text in the Properties panel, the order of my keystrokes becomes inverted. For instance, if I type the number "24" in the character size field, it is sometimes recorded as "42". Initially, I thought I was just typing clumsily, but then this happened:

I'm running Captivate v. 9.0.1.320 on OS X 10.10.5. Is this a known issue, or have I stumbled upon something new and truly bizarre?

I've only ever seen something like this happen when people had one of those annoying prankster viruses on their computer or else the keyboard was on its way out.
