Hi I use adobe presenter for creating elearnings. we use SABA as our in house LMS. now we plan to move to all device learning or digital learning. my questions :

1. Will I be able to convert my old learnings to captivate 2017 ?

2. if yes will it require a lot of effort per content as I have a lot of them?

3. is it compatible with SABA 7.3  ( our LMS ).

thanks to answer these as I am in process of finalizing my next purchase for digital learning.

thanks in advance

    1. No.  Not without rebuilding.

    2. Yes.  Almost as much effort as starting from scratch.

    3. Maybe.  If your LMS is truly SCORM-compliant.

Can you suggest something which can ease my effort s I have powerpoint version with audio & media. I am not aware if latest version of presenter can give the desired output for all devices.

I will try to add some more answers.

Presenter is essentially a PPT plugin, and since PPT is not responsive it is not possible to import PPT in Captivate if you need a responsive project. I know that the marketing people will tell that you can convert a non-responsive project to a responsive project ut in case of a PPT-converted project every slide has been turned into a 'movie' slide keeping the PPT-animations but preventing any further editing. Personally I strongly recommend never to use Captivate to convert a PPT, you wisely choose to use Presenter for that purpose.

I'm sorry but totally agree with Rod's answer. Captivate is a real eLearning authoring tool, with all (or more than) you need to create engaging, interactive courses which is not the case for a PPT-plugin. Maybe you added quizzes to turn the Presenter files into SCO for reporting, but Captivate has so much more for quizzes than Presenter.

Have a look at this article where I tried to explain the three most important stumbling blocks that starters with Captivate have to conquer::

Challenges for Starters - Captivate blog

For responsive projects the two different work flows for design (Breakpoint Views and Fluid Boxes) need some learning time as well.

It sounds bit discouraging, sorry about that, there is no quick way to convert a Presenter course in a Captivate course, just like putiting a Porsche engine in a Trabant car will never turn it into a sportscar neither.

One of the great features of Captivate is its Library: you can import assets from the Powerpoint into that LIbrary to use them in a Captivate course. You can even open libraries from other CP-files.
