Question

Is it possible to add closed captioning to a video page in captivate 9?

I see that you are able to manage audio files that are attached to say a PPT slide, but I need to also add closed captioning to video slides. I'm new to captivate and am not sure how to do this or if it is even possible.

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm just seeing this. You may have learned the workflow elsewhere by now...

To add cc, you begin by adding notes text to a slide in the 'Slide Notes' panel:

You may convert that notes text to speech using TTS(2), or add an audio file to the slide.

Once there is an attached audio file, you can select the cc check box in the notes panel(3) to allow display of the notes text as a cc item.

You can then edit timing for the cc text against the slide audio(4).

Does anyone else think that the numbers being out of sequence for a simple explanation indicated a UX issue?

Hmmm, original question was about video, not about a slide-based cptx. You need to use the first button in the Slide Notes in that case.

Yes, you must enable the video CC link as well:

We don't work with PowerPoint in Captivate, be we have developed a solution that uses HTML5 video inserted as an HTML5 animation that displays the closed-captioning in Captivates closed-caption area. So it can be done in HTML5 output.
