Is the Captivate trial limited? I don't see an actions panel or a way to add shapes, for example. I feel like I'm missing essential parts.

    Trial is fully functional.

    However, maybe you have downloaded version 12? Everything has changed in that version. You mentioned two of the features which are no longer there.

      weird, i guess that's what i have, i don't know. i just downloaded the free trial but it didn't show a version. I'm trying to make my own quiz and want to add buttons that trigger audio within a short answer question. i saw a youtube video where it is demonstrated but i didn't have the same features. i'll see if i can trial another version, thanks!

      Check the version number under Help, About Captivate, please!

      New version is rather limited, you don't have much control over the design. 

      However you could try to install Captivate Classic along with this new version. Perhaps it has the features you are looking for.
