Is there a difference between pasting slides into a new project and pasting just the objects onto new slides?

My zip file doesn't open in our LMS, and I'm at my wits' end. (I know you don't diagnose LMS problems.) Creating a new project and copying/pasting the slides didn't solve the problem. Might I get a different result if I create new slides in a new project and paste just the objects from the old slides to the new slides? What is the difference between these two actions?

    Difference? It will take a lot more time to copy/paste the objects, than the slides and you'll also need to be sure to use the same master slides (based on the theme you are suing) for the slide. If you copy the slide itself, you automatically have the correct master slide it is based on. Copy/pasting slides to a new project is a work flow recommended when the first project seems to be corrupted.

    Depending on the version you are using, copy/paste of objects will result in those objects having another ID (name). Since recent versions the names will be similar to the original names (intelligent naming) but they'll be different anyway That could lead to problems when you also use advanced/shared actions triggered by slide or object events.

    Keep in mind, this is a user forum, so most of us started by asking questions just like you.

    If the LMS isn't opening the ZIP file, I don't think you'll see any difference in how you create the zip file from Captivate.

    What settings are you using in the Quiz Reporting (Preferences -> Quiz -> Reporting) dialogue?

    Preferences - Quiz Reporting

    How about the LMS Manifest (Preferences -> Quiz -> Reporting -> Configure) ?

    Preferences - Quiz Reporting - SCORM Manifest

    You don't mention a quiz, are you publishing a file with or without a quiz?

    (Preferences -> Quiz -> Reporting -> Settings)

    Preferences - Quiz Settings

    I don't see any mention of the LMS that you are using.

    You may have better luck on the support site for your LMS asking what Captivate settings people are using that have been successful. Or, ask if there is a specific process for decompressing / deploying a course from a zip file upload.

    You are answering the question I’m not asking. My question is about the difference between copy/pasting slides and copy/pasting objects from the slides.
