Is there a way to create oral assessments? Let the student submit audio answers?

I'm trying to create an asynchronous oral assessment.  I would like the student to say the answer and press submit and not have to open another application, save an audio file, name it correctly and send or attach.  The audience isn't tech savvy so the more simple the better.

This solution does not currently exist in Captivate and would require a custom built application to achieve the results you describe and you'd need a budget measured in tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands.

You don't mention anything about having a budget for this project, so I'm assuming this would be out of the question.

You could use SnagIt or a similar tool to capture the answers, and grade within the LMS, rather than strictly through Captivate.

Since I work with kids (struggling readers), I have them post their audio in KidBlog. How old are your students, pinksnowsnow‌? And how many are in your class? This works great with my small group. Not so sure how it will be when I expand to very large groups.

There are quite a few other places that post audio also. My kids like to add a picture, and I require text, even if their "assistant" types it. They learn to read their own stuff amazingly quickly.

I've found that I need to incorporate a lot of other tech materials into my classes to have them work like I want, so I only use Captivate for the things that it is great at. Like drag and drop quizzes, the other interactive parts, highlight boxes, buttons, etc.

So my kids get quite a tour of the internet. It sounds strange, but it works out.

‌Thank you for the answer.  Too bad it's not a feature.  I asked the people at Articulate and they want to add it to a list of future enhancements.  Hopefully Adobe will too.  Until then I found a widget in a form app I can use to accomplish the task.

    Many thanks for your reply.

What is the widget? I'd love to know about it! Thanks for any reply.

You could do this with a web object and Construct2. I have been building HTML5 widgets or "nodes" as I prefer to call them with C2 for at least 3 years now. Some of the latest modifications in C2 include voice recognition and voice synthesis.

this link shows a little bit about that ( it starts a bit slow but hang in there you will be impressed ). Speech Recognition and Synthesis in Construct 2 - YouTube . So how that would work is C2 listens and recites what was said and then if the learner made a response that was correct. C2 sends a scorm response to Cptv8 and the LMS records a thumbs up for that student. Not thousands of bucks at all.

I would love this possibliity. My students can't read, so anything that allows them to respond verbally would be a HUGE deal. Thanks for asking.
