Question

Is this normal? CP2017 Fluid Boxes

Currently getting it to cough up a responsive project that isn't a warped mess, running into these recurring issues on Captivate 2017:

  • Certain objects produce a small square button (that i did not ask for or place) on publish. It always appears in the corner of the object, it has lines and a tiny arrow. WTF. Please tell me how to stop this.

  • No matter what i do, the published project will always have a white border around 5-10px wide at the bottom. No ammount of careful resizing will fix this, meaning i cannot have a full screen application in any other background color except white. Any ideas?

  • Text also jumps around horribly, even on objects that do not animate and have no reason to render more than once. The text will still jitter around at runtime for no apparent reason.

  • Finally, the Publish for devices (App) does not work at all. Currently having to manually upload and package and redownload the apps with the phonegap website, which is horrible workflow made even worse by the excruciatingly slow upload and download speeds it has for some reason (i literally havent seen such slow download speeds since 2013, sometimes falls to single digit kbps, or drops to 0 and stops completely)

Cannot believe i payed money for this software. Never have i ever had to slog through such a broken mess of a program. There are glitches and bugs and unwanted behavior at virtually every single turn.

Is Articulate any better? Wanting to cut my losses and run as far away as i can from this nightmare of a tool. Been using since captivate 8 but i'm just about done, as every version seems to just get worse.

A real fully responsive project, where you can adapt layouts for different screens and conrtol them is with Breakpoint Views. Fluid Boxes, which you used need some learning time to have them set up correctly on master slides and normal slides. They have some limitations in use of objects, but need less hours to develop once you get the han gof them. They are somewhere i between the fully resposive project and a rescalable project (as Articulate produces). First question: which type of adaptable layout do you need. More in:

Fluid Boxes Or Breakpoint Views? - Captivate blog

The icon you do see appears when text is not fitting in the allowed space. I recommend to lower the minimum font size from 14 to 10pt.

Do you need an app? Or do you want to have a proect, deployed on a webserver or a LMS that will adapt to all devices?
