jpeg images not showing in Captivate 5 project

Hi There,

I started a new captivate project from a ppt presentation that I have already completed. It's 16 slides long and has some basic screen shots. When it loaded the file, I noticed that the jpeg images I had in a few slides did not show up. The text appeared but it was like I had never put an image there.

Is there a way for me to see my jpeg files? Do I need to go back to my powerpoint and replace the jpegs with a different picture type and then open it again in captivate?

Much assistance appreciated!

Agreed with Rod again

But I have seen oddities with PNG color shifts.

Sure your images are JPEGs?

If they are JPEGs, check the save/export options you used (from Illustrator?) - maybe you picked something unusual?

Maybe a lower bit count (i.e. 8 bit?) or such?

Is it possible this issue could be due to images being viewed or created on MAC vs PC?

MAC computers use s different GAMMA setting to PCs and sometimes images and colours can look very different.

Were these JPEG screenshots visible immediately on each PPT slide or were they perhaps delayed by some timing that you set up in PowerPoint?

If so, make sure the images are set to appear as soon as the slide appears.  Some animation effects don't translate well from PPT to Captivate environment.

An even better solution is to just forget about starting projects with PowerPoint if the final destination is supposed to be a Captivate file.  Build it all from scratch in Captivate and you will find you get much better control over these types of issues.

Hi Rod,

These images are not animated or timed, they are simply part of my ppt slides, they were adobe illustrator files that  I converted to a jpeg.

I need to do a voice over hence why I was using captivate. I thought it would be no issue to import my presentation and use the audio function to do the recordings. Even my header images for each slide are not showing up, actually on the first slide it does but not the subsequent ones.

is there a way to fix this? I've already created the presentation. I tried importing my jpegs again in captivate, but the colours are all off (a brighter green than in the original picture.. strange) . is there a setting I can turn on so it shows the images? I am using captivate 5. Is it better in later versions?

You can record narration directly into PPT if that's all you need.

If you then need a better way to present it, check out Office Mix.

Or perhaps Adobe Presenter.

Otherwise agreed with Rod that importing PPTs directly into CP often causes more hassle than convenience, especially older versions of Captivate. You're 4 versions behind in using CP5. CP9 is much better at PPT imports (though still far from perfect).

Just copy/paste items from the PPT to the CP slides and rebuild it.
