Jumping to own slide doesn't run OnEnter action

I have a slide with an on enter action. I've tried an advanced action and now for testing I just have it increment a variable.

When I jump back to this slide from itself (i.e. I'm on slide 2 and I jump to slide 2 from a button via an advanced action), the slide rewinds to the beginning but does not run the onEnter behavior - it doesn't increment my variable.

Why is this and does it make sense?

I've tested in both CP9 and CP2017. Same behavior.

Has always been the case. I have explained this multiple times on my blog.  To run the On Enter action you need to re-enter the slide. Two possible ways: with a dummy slide, or with miconavigation. Have a look at:
