Keyboard shortcut not working

I am using Captivate to create a system simulation where the documentation is in a separate window. For example, when the learner goes to the documentation window and is instructed to "Press Enter to validate," the Enter key does not work. It does however work if the learner does not leave the window. Even if you click on the screen and press Enter, it does not recognize the action however the click does work.

I currently have the shortcut on a click box but the have same result on a button.

Anyone else? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Irritating when this happens, I know. Check the following:
In your time bar, make sure that the click button you need is at the top and that it is set up for the entire length of the slide time wise.
If this does not work, then check your click box properties for shortcut to activate, shortcut to deactivate and, critically, what is the expected action on success i.e go to next slide, jump to slide etc. Further, check the number of attempts allowed on this button.

Hope this helps!!

Unfortunately, all of your suggestions were already done. The Enter key works fine if I do not leave the simulation window but I go to another window and come back, it is like it does not have focus (even though it is the only thing on the slide). I found if I remove the tick for the "Allow mouse clicks," I can then click inside the simulation window and then press Enter, it works. The problem is if the learner clicks inside the simulation window when a "regular click box" is active, it is counted incorrect.

I think I am communicating poorly but the bottom line is... Is there a way to set the focus to the click box when returning to the simulation window?

Thanks for your help and patience.
