Large Captivate 9 Projects Lag, Very Slow, Freeze Altogether on LMS

When the files are viewed/previewed on native computers, off of the LMS, the Captivate 9 projects seem to work fine. We have scoured every screen and step and can find no obvious issues. When these same files are viewed after they have been uploaded to LMS (Moodle- although I am unclear if Totara is now being used. I know that is vague but this problem is above my pay grade- I am just trying to help). Very large files and most reported problems are either screens "freeze' at a certain point, or a screen will lag for a long time- around 30 minutes, and then work again until the next lag. Problems noted on some of the projects are "freezing when using the back button" and when people are entering text in a text box a freeze/lag will come. Not happening only in quizzes, but throughout. Not using HTML5 output for projects. I am wondering if this is a problem with the interaction between captivate 9 and LMS, so if anyone knows of any problems with Captivate 9 and Moodle or Captivate 9 and Totara, please let me know.

Steve's right. Another thing you can try is sorting your project library according to file size. Once you can see the culprits that are taking up all your bandwidth you can roundtrip them to photoshop, or other applications and optimise them.

Hi David,

You need to define "Large Project"? Sometimes a project can just be too big. It will run fine locally but when it has to load from a server and travel it just chokes, either because of the data connection (wifi, etc.) or because its too large to load and play well in browser.

Quick way to test this is break it up. and publish two files that are linked. If it works, that is your problem.

Cheers

Steve
