Question

Last key click is not recorded

Hi,

I am using Captivate 4 to record an application that is delivered via Citrix.

I type SMITH, but I only see SMIT on the playback. I only hear four keyboard typing sounds.

Why isn't Captivate getting the last letter or the last sound?

If I record myself typing in Word or Notepad...no problem...I see SMITH and I hear all five clicks.

This only happens when I record something in Citrix.

Can I do anything? Can I fake it? Can I change my audio settings?

Many thanks,

Joe

    HI again,

This is me replying to myself. For whatever it is worth, I should have mentioned that my LAN speed is quite slow. My VPN speed is actually faster.

This problem happens only when I am recording the Citrix app AND accessing that app while LAN connected.

    So, the summary is:

Recording (let's say) Notepad while LAN connected = no problem.

Recording Citrix at home via VPN = no problem.

Recording Citrix while LAN connected = The problem...Captivate never records the last letter/typing sound.

So...is there anything I can do with settings...maybe for hardware acceleration...to enable me to record a Citrix app over a slow LAN?

    Hi Joe

One thing Captivate has always seemed to have an issue with is recording the typing. Sometimes it's fine but sometimes you see the issue you are citing.

I recall back in Captivate 1 that a workaround for this situation was to always ensure you pressed the Print Screen key as the last action after completing the typing action. By pressing Print Screen, I noticed it would coax the typing to remain on the same slide.

Please consider trying this as a possible workaround. Then perhaps consider adopting that as a standard practice if it seems to help.

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi Rick,

Thanks very much. This is helpful.

As you said, this is a pretty good workaround. In addition, to the PrtScrn button, I am also sliding my typing blocks to the end of the slide timeline. Overall, the effect is pretty good, but laborious. I'll do this when I am in the office (LAN connected) and hopefully, I won't have the problem at home (VPN connected). I will try it at home tomorrow.

I would really like to know more about how a slow LAN speed affects Captivate.
