Question

Link to -.exe but "'$' is not a valid integer value"-error

Hello everybody!

I had a very big project with more than 300 slides and about 100 MB. Captivate 4 seems seems to be unable to handle that...

Now I made three projects. Those are -.exe because I need them fullscreen --- there are problems with the screen resolution if I try -.swf.

At the end of project 1 you press a button to open project 2.

I used to "Open other project" feature, linked it to the -.cp file.

On my local computer everything is fine!

But it won't work on any other computer.

I only get the message:

'$' is not a valid integer value

All -.exe and even the -.cp files are in the same folder.

The paths where I store the files can be different on each destination computers. So I think there is the problem.

How can I make the paths in "Open other project" feature relative and not absolute?

I tried the "Open file or url" feature but that one opens the -.exe in a browser window and fails, too.

Any idea??

I had a look into the forum, but there are many discussions around that topic but no solution.

The Adobe Support is still busy with this case since May 19th and today I was caught 'on hold' at the telephone support for 37 minutes --- nice music but everybody on holiday?!

Perhaps you can help me...

Regards

Markus

    Hi there

As you say you are using Captivate 4, have you ensured the recent patch has been applied? To do that, click Help > Updates...

The only time I've ever seen the error you cite was when the EXE attempts to open a SWF. Then again, this is Captivate 4 so we could be seeing the emergence of a bug we haven't seen yet.

    Hi Rick,

yes I read about an update in any post in the forum and hopefully tried the update button...

...but there was an update for the Adobe Reader only...

    My version:

    4.0.0.Build 1598

    Is this the latest version?

Edit: Currently I download the "Updater 1.01 for Macromedia Captivate" manually from the homepage. Will give a feedback later...

    Regards, Markus

    Hi there

Hmmm, odd that it doesn't show an update. That's definitely not the latest as my build reports 4.0.1 Build 1658.

Perhaps report it as a bug?
