Linking a PDF

I have a button that I want to direct to a PDF. I'm using the action "Link to URL or file."

I am exporting to HTML5, and when I export, I am copying the PDF file to the same folder as the link.

Only problem is when I link the PDF it's pointing to a file on my local computer it seems. When I save the project and try to open on another machine it won't link

I have tried to name the URL only the title.pdf (no path in front.)

Is there a specific folder besides the root folder that I need to be saving the PDF in? Why won't it link?

Nope, I just use the pdf name, with extension as the link in the 'Open URL or file' option and put the file in the root of the output.

Do you keep the extension in the name (.pdf)?

And do you copy the file to the root folder after you export to HTML5? Captivate seems to export the PDF with the file, but then a message pops up and says to make sure to copy all assets over.

Yes I keep the extension in the name.

I copy it into the root after it's published.  So the link is just 'abc.pdf' and I copy 'abc.pdf' into the root of the output after it's published.  The message you mention is just a friendly reminder ;-)
