Question

Linking projects, .swf, .htm, etc

Hello;

I am looking for some help in linking multiple demonstrations into a single presentation. Here is what I need:

I have 4 realitivly large demonstrations (between 100 and 150 slides each)
I need a menu that allows the user to select what demonistraton they would like to view, then give them the option to go back to that menu and select another topic when finished.
This presentation will be burned on cd's for our clients so I would like to have an autorun to launch the menu screen.

What is the best way to accomplish this? I have toyed around with the CaptivatePlayer some, but that is not ideal in this case as the menu is not very noticable for an end user that does not know to look for it. I also had some problems getting the audio to come over, however I did not mess with it very long so that is probably an easy fix.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    That is entirely possible…
I was under the impression that it allowed you to create a “Menu” or starting point from which other projects, .swf, .exe, .htm, and other file types could be launched.
Please excuse my ignorance, I just assumed someone else in the community may have tried to tie multiple demonstrations together in a similar fashion and could offer some assistance…

    Hi Kev_Stein

If you are open to a desktop sharing session, I'd be willing to work with you for a short while to discuss MenuBuilder.

You are correct in that it is designed to work as you have stated.

If you are interested, shoot me a private message to rstone75 (at) kc (dot) rr (dot) com

    Cheers... Rick

I think you are misunderstanding the use of Menu Builder and its ability to edit its appearance and functions. But in any case, best of luck and welcome to the Captivate user community!

I played with the MenuBuilder as well but I have disappointed with the lack of visual options. I am not even able to change the size of a text box. I would like the text to display like this:
    Text
    Text
    Text
But MenuBuilder only shows it like this:
    TextTextText.

If I had more formatting options the MenuBuilder would work fine for my needs.

What I have done in the mean time is to create ClickBoxes in MenuBuilder, Export them, then Import the Animation into an actual Captivate slide. This works but it is a pain in the neck and it just feels like there has to be a better way.

    Anyone else have ideas?

Perhaps your answer is in using the "Menu Builder" (MB) application which comes bundled with the Captivate install ... and setting it to open the linked projects on the menu in a "New" window.

MB can be accessed from the Captivate Main UI, on the File menu.
    FILE > RECORD/CREATE > MENU BUILDER PROJECT

    Hope this helps.
