Question

LMS and Certificates

Good afternoon,

I'm currently using Captivate v.3, and I have a couple of questions that anyone should feel free to answer:

1. What LMS are you using (if you're using one), and what other ones did you consider? We've looked at SumTotal, but they were too expensive for our budget. We have about 800 employees.

2. Is there a way to create a module wherein the user (and it doesn't matter at what point) can type in his/her name, and get to a slide where there's a certificate and his/her name is entered?

Thanks so much in advance!

I have asked this question before without any real solutions being offered. For future development Adobe might wish to consider this question in more depth, simply because there are a great number of independant people (Trainers) who wish to create projects for:
    a) Creating standalone CD Rom projects that require certificates
    b) For companies that do not have their own Intranet facilities
    c) Manual workers that don't normally have access to an office
    d) Dedicated delivery at third-party venues

There should be a great demand for this type of facility in the authouring environment. Alternatively, would it be easy to export the whole project to Flash and create a certificate and macro for this purpose?

Any response would be most appreciated

    Kind regards

    I recommend Inquisiq:
    http://www.icslearninggroup.com/products/inquisiq/learning-management-system.htm
I don't use it myself but a few of my clients do. I also often work with
the company that offers it so I may be a bit biased ;-)

Another lower-cost LMS that has been well-reviewed is WBT Manager:
    http://www.ielearning.com/wbt

Generally, certificates are a function of the LMS and not the authoring
tool. With Inquisiq, you can create and customize a certificate and
assign it to a course. When the course is completed, the certificate is
added to their account. Additionally, each course can consist of any
number of lessons - at least with Inquisiq.

If you have any questions on Inquisiq, happy to answer directly:
