Locked file in 5.5

I am running Adobe CAptivate 5.5 with windows. My computer froze when compressing and saving a file. I had to choose the End Now" option and now I  cannot open the file. I have read about the dCache zip file but I cannot download the .AIR file extension opener due to IT restrictions. I have gone through project preferences and emptied that cache but this has not helped. I am open to suggestions!

If you have emptied the cache with the project file unopened then you may have scotched your best chance to recover the project file.

See this post for tips on recovering Captivate projects:

Scotch.... now there's a word I would most commonly apply to situations when working with Captivate.... smooths over just about any situation. I backed up the cache on a stick before dumping it... but with IT restrictions I could not even download a zip program... fortunately there are 2 higher levels of redundant back ups at work... it just took IT a few days to access it and I wound up only loosing a few hours worth of work instead of a few days worth...
