Looking for additional speech agents

Hi,

I need to add some extra speech agents to those that come with Captivate. The reason is that I need to support multiple languages (French and Dutch) and that I need to create a conversation in both those languages. So I need at least two agents in each language.

Does anyone has a good site / company to recommend for installing additional speech agents on my Mac computer?

Thanks

Damien

Finally found what I was looking for.

A company called "the Acapela group" has a great product called "Infovox iVox". These are high quality voices for the Mac. You can find the produce on the following page http://www.assistiveware.com/product/infovox-ivox

The basic principle is quite simple

  1. You download and install the voice manager for free!
  2. From the voice manager you can download and install more than 100 different voices in 31 languages (including French and Dutch !!!! Yes!!!)
  3. You can activate a 30 days free trial for each and every installed speech agent.
  4. If you want to purchase a speech agent after the trial you can do so for a very cheap price (14,99 for each agent with volume pricing available)

The voices are of pretty good quality and the price is very reasonable. One of the best value for money I found so far... and... best of all : these voices integrate well with Captivate as you can find them in the speech management window when converting a slide note to speech!

THE GOOD NEWS:

The NeoSpeech.com website shows the following voices on their sales inquiry form :

Julie (Female, U. S. English)

Kate (Female, U. S. English)

Ashley (Female, US English)

Paul (Male, U. S. English)

James (Male, U. S. English)

Bridget (Female, British English)

Hugh (Male, British English)

Violeta (Female, Latin American Spanish)

Francisco (Male, Mexican Spanish)

Chloe (Female, Canadian French)

Hui (Female, Mandarin Chinese)

Liang (Male, Mandarin Chinese)

Misaki (Female, Japanese)

Show (Male, Japanese)

Yumi (Female, Korean)

Junwoo (Male, Korean)

The BAD NEWS:

Their website no longer supports the online purchase and download of these voices, it's primary focus appears to be 'TTS-in-the-cloud'

where you need licensed, downloadable, voice files.

Other options may be available via a Google Search.

As of Captivate 5.5, additional voices from Loquendo may not work. There is a restriction that only the shipped voices work. BTW, if you are planning on additional Neospeach voices, check with the vendor if they support Speech API. Only those voices which support Speech API will work with Adobe Captivate.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately, Neospeech does not offer agents in regular French (they only have Canadian French, which is quite different) or in Dutch.

I'll keep looking for more speech agents for this project.

Thanks anyway
