Question

Losing image quality when publishing to video

I am trying to publish a video of a project that has a lot of screenshots in it. The screenshots are all large png files that I have to reduce the size to fit on the slide. When I publish the project the screenshot quality diminishes. I have tried just about everything. Is there a hidden setting that keeps the screenshot/picture quality of the items on the slide when publishing as a video?

There was a similar question last week. Rescaling of images in Captivate is not a good practice if you want to keep quality. Use a graphical application (like Photoshop) to create the images in exactly the resolution you'll need them in Captivate. That will also save a lot on file size.  Why do you not use the functionality of Captivate to create a software simulation, where CP will take the screenshots?

Thank You! I will have to use Photoshop. This particular software simulation is so long and complex. From my experience with the Software Simulation you have to get the entire project done in one shot with the voice over which would be difficult for this particular project. I have used this functionality in many smaller projects and it was great. The audio has already been taken and I was working with the final screenshots to mock the process.

Hmmm, I never do a software simulation in one shot, but always split it up in chunks. It is perfectly possible, there is a pause button. You only have to be sure to keep the application which you are capturing in the same situation as when you paused. Moreover  I never capture VO at the same time as the simulation, but do it in Audition later on. With the slide based functionality, synchronizing audio with objects in the editing phase is pretty easy.  You may have some misunderstanding about the work flow.
