m4v to F4V on Mac in Captivate 8

I've managed to output video from Final Cut in mp4, and it plays beautifully in preview.

Now the problem is that, for some reason I can't fathom, the controls are limited.

If you pause the video, hitting play again takes it back to the beginning.

If you click on the timeline to move to a place forward in the video, it starts back at the beginning.

It has to be possible for the leaner to pause and restart the video at a given point, and it has to be possible for them to jump forward to wherever they want. At the moment, neither is possible.

Any thoughts on this?

You might also look into Handbrake, which is a Mac based video capture / conversion tool.

Captivate is limited in the video formats it can work with based on the export of the courses to HTML / SWF and managing the media in an LMS environment.

Depending on how you will be hosting your content, and how your users will access it, you may choose to host the m4v's and have Captivate open their location as an HTML page via a 'open URL' action.

These choices should be based on how your users will be able to access the course.

A few things to consider include:

     Their devices: Desktop, Phone, Tablet, TV, etc.

     Their connection type: Wifi, Cellular, 'High Speed' Internet, wired network

     Your publishing options: Web, App, Desktop Application, Interactive PDF.

Perhaps you need to get Final Cut Pro to output to something other than M4V first and then convert that to MP4 using Adobe Media Encoder.

Adobe's tool can handle an impressive number of video formats.  Have you looked into using that?  It usually gets installed along with Adobe Captivate.
