Major Audio Issues in Captivate 4

Hello All,

I am having major audio problems in Captivate 4:

Keep in mind I have used Captivate since it was Robodemo and the problems I am having have not been a problem in any prior Version of Captivate.

My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit

Sigmatel Soundchip in my Dell Precision Notebook

Using Plantronics DSP-400 USB Headset

Adobe Captivate 4.0.1.1658

1) When attempting to Record audio, calibration and recording does not work; even though my Headset does show up.

So I download and install Audactiy based on recomendations made here. It works well and has no issues recognizing my headset and recording my audio. SO I create my audio file and save both WAV and MP3 Versions of my Audactiy audio file.

2) When I try to import the Audio files (both WAV and MP3) I get "Unable to decode / import the selected wav/mp3 file" as error message.

So I assume Audactiy is creating bad Exports. OF course they playback fine in Windows Media Player. I attempt to import the sample Windows WAV files and receive the same errors. I pick out several different MP3's I have used for background audio in Captivate 3 and still no go.

Anyone have any advice on how to proceed. I have spent the last 3 hours searching the Forums and Knowledge Basebut have failed to come up with a remedy,

Thanks,

Chip

    Well Frapdoodle!

What about this one? I know it discusses Windows XP, but I think I've seen others report success with it on Vista as well.
