Making a prerecorded mp4 video from Camtasia into a training and assessment simulations

I have several prerecorded demo videos that need to have training and/or assessment simulations built from the demo video. Can I import them into Captivate and use the simulation feature to do this?

A video is by definition passive, it has no interactive objects which are necessary for a training or assessment simulation. You can import the video as video, but not convert it to a simulation. Captivate's simulations are slide based On each slide there is an interactivity that has to be done by the learner, before preceding to a next slide. That interactivity can be a simple click, or typing in a text.  I don't see how you could convert a pure video to slides with interactivity.

I have done it using primarily hotspots and textboxes on a Camtasia video in Articulate 360. I noticed the simulation settings in Captivate allow you to record a demo video, make a training simulation, and a separate assessment simulation effectively giving you three products from one video. I was hoping that Captivate had an even easier way to do this.

Yes, I always capture the three modes at once. And then I put them all in one project, with a menu slide 'Show', 'Try'  'Test'. But I understood your question as if it is possible to convert a Camtasia video into those software simulations, including eventual reporting to a LMS. And maybe adding more slides like instruction slides, other content, branching, quizzes.
