Mark a slide as complete

Is there a way to access the variables that show the slides as complete in the Table of Contents with javascript? I am building an html5 course. One version will be run from a cd. I am creating cookies/local storage to save variables. So I am trying to figure out how I can save the data so when I relaunch the course the table of contents bookmarks can be reloaded.
