Matching PPTX deck size to captivate screen size

I imported a PPTX deck into captivate and the background/theme/design of the PPT is about 1" short of filling the page of the captivate presentation.  I've tried changing the resolution, and it keeps scaling the deck accordinlyg since I want to maintain aspect ratio.  How can I stretch the design theme to cover the entire captivate slide?  I can't edit within PPT since it's a PPTX.

Here is my approach to ensure that the Captivate and PowerPoint files are matching resolutions:

Run a test to check the exact pixel resolution of your PowerPoint Content in Captivate

First, import the PowerPoint file. Then, in your Captivate Library, right click on the imported PowerPoint file and select Properties. Look at the dimensions listed here. This value consistently gives you the pixel size that PowerPoint content is being rendered and imported into Captivate.

Once you have this value, you can rescale your Captivate project to the right dimensions by going to Modify > Rescale Project > and entering the dimensions you saw in the Presentation Properties. That's it. There are other workarounds (get powerpoint dimensions in inches * inches-to-pixel-ratio * dpi properties on your machine) but that is not as easy as this.

For best results, you should plan to rebuild content in Captivate.

Short of that, I've found it worthwhile to build a PPT them into a template file that I use when I know the PowerPoint is destined for Cp. Frankly, I've eventually given in and rebuilt most slides in Cp using this workflow.

When converting existing training, for PowerPoint someone else has created, I've gotten good results by setting any animations that are 'click to continue' in PowerPoint to a time delay, saving as PPTx, and importing to Cp in high fidelity mode with scaling on. Also, change 'on mouse click' to automatically, otherwise you get a click box added to each page.

You'll likely get a warning that fidelity will be lost on the screen but will be restored during export. I was able to remove that by using these settings for PowerPoint with the above import settings:

In short, the 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' option is likely not your friend here!
