Menu Structure using Adob Captivate

Hi,

I am using Adobe Captivate 5.5.

I am having about 10 individual projects with output generated in SWF/HTML.

I would like to know whether it is possible to:

1. Create a menu structure so that clicking a particular menu item I should be able to invoke the corresponding project output (SWF or HTML).

2. It should be expandable/collapsible as seen in normal menu tree structure.

Is this possible in Captivate?

Here is a sample of what I want to get:

Main Application

     Menu 1

-Topic 1 (clicking this the corresponding SWF/HTML should be invoked in a NEW window.)

          -Topic 2

          -Topic 3

     Menu 2

          -Topic 1

          -Topic 2

     Menu 3

     .

     .

     Menu 10

I tried bringing all the slides of all the projects and create TOC however is is cumbersome as I have to move and define levels and and also keep track of slides to be selected (tick mark in the TOC).

Please give your suggestions!

Thanks in Advance.

With thanks and regards,

Krishna

Have you tried using the Aggregator?

    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried Aggregator and now able to create the menu structure as I had envisaged. Pretty useful.

One aspect I could not understand is: when the aggregator is published as usual there are three files HTML, SWF and Standard.js.

When I open either HTML or SWF the menu is loaded on the left side pane but the loading happens so slowly (one by one it loads up). I checked with both IE and Mozilla the loading is slower only. Is there a way to make the loading of menu structure faster? What makes the loading of menu structure so slow.  Please suggest.

    With thanks and regards,

    Krishna

In an Aggregator project each section of the main TOC actually comes from the TOC in the SWF file for that part.  So each part of the TOC can ONLY appear AFTER the SWF that supplies its details has finished downloading.  That's why the TOC takes time to become fully visible.  You can watch the TOC to see when each of the component projects gets loaded.
