Question

Menubuilder

I am experiencing a similar problem using Menubuilder. I have created a project using Menubuilder with 13 modules. I published the project to a CD and it works fine. I then provided a copy of the CD to our webmaster to place on our company's website (not an LMS). I can access the Main Men.exe file and it brings up the main menu but when I try to access the other modules from the Main Menu I receive and error message "F"?
I also tried to publish the project to a new folder so it will contain only the files needed for the MB project and still experience the same error after it is posted on the web.
Any assistance would be much appreciated!

the random Quiz questions are within Module 8...I publish Module 8 as .swf and .htm .js yes it is in the same folder as the menubuilder .swf there is no menubuilder.htm Could that be the problem?

How do I publish the random questions if they are in the same module?

menubuilder when I export "save file with project" option is selected therefore it publishes/exports those links with it...the links were published to my C: drive....

Incidently I tried it both ways published each module to the server linked the Menubuilder to each module from on server to the .html

Hi pdobbin and welcome to our community

According to the research I've conducted, MenuBuilder issues the generic "F" error under the following conditions:

1. The MenuBuilder movie exists as a .EXE file and contains a link to a .SWF/.HTM file pair
2. The .HTM file is renamed, deleted or otherwise nonexistent.

MenuBuilder dearly LOVES to create absolute links. So it could be that you have an absolute link that no longer can be found. If you tested the CD on your own PC, the absolute link would work just dandy, as you are on your own PC. So for starters, I'd be double checking the MenuBuilder file you created. The source file and not the output. Make sure you enable the "Save file with project" option and that no path information appears in the field. All you want showing is the File Name of the HTML page you are linking to.

I also see another issue here. Is your webmaster placing the .EXE on your web site? If so, your users will have issues launching. They will likely see an inevitable prompt to run or save the file when they click the link. If your MenuBuilder is going to end up on a web site, you should consider creating the MenuBuilder output as .SWF instead of .EXE. .EXE works well for CD-ROM, but .SWF would work better for a web site.

Hello I am very new to Capt 3, I also did a Menubuilder project, Modules 1-8. Module 8 has a quiz with random questions. I have 3- problems

1. When I PUBLISH Module 8 which includes the random question quiz from my .cp
I can see the Quiz Questions. I published it to our content server which has a http://firenet/ocfrcontent/nameoffile
and the quiz questions will not appear...it is invisible

2. I have chosen from Quiz Preferences "if you fail" go to url or file" IN CURRENT SCREEN http://firenet/ocfrcontent/MenuBuilder.html and the url will not display

3. "Flash player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation appears" and I select Add an edit location...republish and the same happens again.

4. When I go to the Computer Lab and go directly to the http://firenet/ocfrcontent/Menubuilder ..... the test questions are blank and do not appear

5. I also have the Menubuilder up in another screen. i work for the firefighters and spoke with ISS they claim it is a design issue...

Hi Yehehuaril8

Keep in mind that random questions link to question pools. And question pools exist as separate .SWF files. Have you ensured you copied all the .SWF files to your server to the same folder where your Captivate output is? If not, that's likely the culprit.

As for that pesky security, see if this link helps with that.
