Microphone setting

Each time I record I need to go to preferences and set for microphone. Then each time I reuse Captivate I have to set it again. Is there any way to set microphone as a default setting?

    What version of Captivate are you using?  Also, do you have more than one input device or two soundcards? 

    What is your path for the preference selection? 

    Captivate 4:  Preferences>Recording>Audio Settings>Audio Devices (select from the dropdown).

    I think the Captivate preference is pulling from your default sound device set up on your computer.  I am assuming you are using a pc.

    Go to your Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices.  Select the Audio tab and check your default settings for your recording device.  If necessary, change your default.

    Open a new project up in Captivate and see if the default changes.  Not sure if this will work for sure, but my default in Captivate matches my Windows default device.
