Modified Captivate 6 File saves as a 30 meg plus .cptx yet exports to a high resolution 2 meg mp4

I have been creating a Captivate 6 file by deleting unwanted resources in the library and then saving it as a new .cptx. This works well as I can select the resouces I want from the so called master .cptx and then select and delete unused items. I then save the new stripped down .cptx, publish it as an MP4 and all is great. My problem is that in every case the .cptx file saves as a 30 meg + file when it cannot be that big. Export it to an MP4 and it will be only 2 megs, save it as a .cptx and its 30 meg, yet in the library all the resources are deleted? Anyone have any idea why it is backing up what looks like the old deleted data and how to remove it? I have done more research on this and as far as I can see "growing cptx files" has been on the forum before and was indentified as a Captivate bug and design floor that was meant to be fixed with an update back in 2011. Is it the case that Adobe have not fixed the problem? - cannot find anywhere where it has been resolved.

    Hi There,

Can you please confirm what all objects do you have in your Library, everything, including graphics and ppts or video or recording? The size of the project would be in proportion to the sum of objects in your project.

While when you publish it, Captivate would take into account all the settings for your projects from the Preferences section (Publish Settings & SWF Size and Quality dialogs) if you keep it to High the size of your MP4 might vary on low it might reduce it further down.

To verify if this is only because of library Content:

    • Create a New blank project
    • Save it and check its size.
    • Now import the library of your Other project (30MB+) and do not add any content or slide to it.
    • Save again and check size.

This should give you more idea about the reason fo this much of its size.

    Thanks,

Thank you for response. The objects in my library total say 4 megs and there are 6 items. It has one slide but 1197 frames!!! Publish to MP4 (1.5 meg file) save as a cptx and it will be 30 megs. Tried to follow your solution, but I cannot successfully import the library of my other project into a new project by anyway I can see. I note if I open the 30 meg project and copy the slide across it will save as a much smaller cptx file, but this is not a solution as Captivate does not faithfully copy the slides so I have to rework each one anyway. What it does tell me, however, is that the library shows one level of data but the cptx file is carrying the deleted items from the original file. Maybe the answer is in why a one slide project has 1197 frames.
