Question

motion path

Hi All,

I am working in Captivate 9 and have six icons around my slide.  I want to use the custom motion path to move them all (except two) to be in a horizontal line.  I see that if I hover over the red end point, it gives me the coordinates for the endpoint.  Is there a way to edit the endpoint by typing in coordinates of where you want them to be located on the slide? Or, is there a way to distribute the endpoints horizontally?

Thanks!

Please, log a feature request, maybe it will happen one day. This has been asked for by many users: an easy way to position points of a motion path. There are many tools that could help besides typing the coordinates (issue is that all motion paths are 'relative' to the starting point, you can edit the XML-files): rulers with guides (like in other Adobe applications), snapping, a more precise version of those start and end points...

My workaround would be this in your case: Use a line object to set your horizontal line where you want to have the end points (use SHIFT to constrain to perfectly horizontal). It is still bit of a trial and error, but you can position the center of the end point now over that line. Later on you delete the line object or hide it in output.

I often use a group of two line objects to make a crosshair to position points of motion paths. I used this approach for this use case:
