Question

Mouse appearance timing on slides

I have a problem with the mouse cursor timing (Captivate 2). Example. I create a slide of 10 seconds. Under the mouse properties, I set the timing to
Display time: 3 seconds
Appear after 4 seconds

I would expect the result would be that the mouse would appear at 4 second point, display for 3 seconds, and then hide for the last 3 seconds on a 10 second slide.

The only result I can get is for the mouse to hide in the last 3 seconds of the slide. It is entirely visible from 1-7 seconds (mouse begins to move at 4 seconds). My only solution is to use a highlight box which covers the pointer from 1-4 seconds to achieve the result I would expect from the settings.

The 'Appear after' timing works on everything else in captivate, just not the mouse. Any suggestions?

    Hi Suzan

As you have seen, the mouse behaves a bit differently than other Captivate objects do. You have correctly observed that the mouse is either visible or it isn't. What you see on the timeline only reflects when the mouse moves.

If you would like to see it behave differently, consider submitting a Wish Form by clicking here and completing the form you will find.

Thanks Rick! It seems like Captivate is building a huge huge list of wishes that really should have been done in the first place! The one that bothers me the most is not being able to insert items in the menu (I don't think that should be a wish, it should be mandatory!).

Couldn't agree more.  Controlling when the mouse appears should already be a function.  Baffling that that is not the case.  Frustrating.
