Question

Multiple audio on one slide

Hello !

I'm blocked ...

I'm using Captivate 5.

On one slide I've got 4 image buttons to command each 1 audio description and appear 1 other image with effect.

My problem is : When I click fastely (before the end of the audio) on the buttons all the audios are mixed. I want to create one advanced action to mute the audio of the first object when I click on another one.

Other thing, the slide must be paued. The learner switch manually to the other one.

Actually I've try with two options (and both are wrong ...) :

1/ add audio to invisible objects with advanced action to show and hide

2/ using event handler widget

Please, give me a hand !

Cheers from France !

Thomas

Thank you Lilybiri, thank you Rod !

I find the solution with the Rollover Captions !

See you soon for other questions ...

Thomas:  You don't need to use advanced actions for this. The easier and better solution for what you want to do is to use Rollover Captions instead of buttons (or any type of object that has to be clicked).

Insert rollover captions and attach the audio to the caption that appears at rollover.  If you want to hide the captions, just change them to transparent captions and delete the text they contain, but keep the audio. Make sure you add the audio to the caption and not the rollover object, otherwise the audio will start as soon as the invisible rollover area is added to the timeline.  If you add the audio to the caption that only appears on rollover, you'll find that you can have several of these objects on stage and when the user rolls their mouse over each one the audio will start.  As soon as they roll the mouse away from one to move over another object, the audio for the first one will stop and the second one will start.

So this is a much easier and cleaner solution.  You just need to make it obvious via buttons or graphics/icons on screen as to where the user needs to place their mouse in order to hear the audio.

Because he also talks about images, I mentioned the rollover slidelets, Rod. That is what I used in that blog post to have text, image and different audio clips appear on rollover.

Yep.  Both would work.  Just my personal preference to use Rollover Captions rather than Slidelets.  See too many issues with Slidelets.

    Bonjour Thomas,

It is possible but not so easy to explain in text. If you look at the Explore slide in this blog post (slide with rollovers):

    Playtime with audio and widgets

you'll see that audio stops when moving over another rollover area, even if you do it quickly.

Can I have access to your file and try to fix it?
