Question

Multiple click on button

I have the problem that I would like to use a button or click field more than one time on a slide. In this way the user can decide from different kind of buttons what he want to see and finaly can go on to the next main point when he is finishing. The problem is that all options I tried, the buttons or click field I have used were only possible to use one time, then the button, click field did not work anymore.

Any suggestions,
Marcus

A workaround for the problem you're describing is to create your "text box" on a separate slide and navigate the user to that slide when they click the first button.

The "text box" slide then branches back to the original slide after 10 seconds (or when the user clicks an "OK" button or whatever you choose).

By doing so, the original slide is "reset" and is waiting for a new click.

    Hi,
thanks for the tipp. I will try to do that. But I guess when it is going back to the slide with the button, the slide starts from the beginning. Do you know it is possible to go back to a slide, but starts not from the befinning, but rather 15 secons later, therefore ignoring the first animation on this slide?

    Hello again Marcus

No, sorry. What you need to do in that case is to probably duplicate the slide and rearrange things so that the duplicate would begin with the button as you are wanting.

    Hi Marcus

I think we need more information here. What exactly are the Button or Click Box objects programmed to do?

The default action is to "Continue". With Buttons, once you choose to "Continue", you move the playhead into the "Inactive" area and the Button is visible, but may not be clicked.

The bottom line here is that it all hinges on what you have configured these things to do. Without knowing more or seeing your project first hand, it's difficult to say with any degree of certainty what your case may be.

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi Rick,
first of all thank you for sharing your knowledge. I try to explain a bit better what I want to do:

When entering a slide a text will fade in. Then several buttons appear. The user can now decide to click on the different buttons. The button should open a textbox. This textbox will appaer let say for 10 seconds. After the ten seconds the box will disappaer and the user should now be at the point where he was before, namely deciding to click on a certain button including the button he already has used. This means after clicking the button the action should to go on with the project, but rather go back to the point he came from. I have used "no action" in the button dimension, but this does not solve the problem, that the button is not active anymore after the box has disappeard.
I have also tried to use the click field option in connection wit an image. Same problem, I was only able to use this button only one time rather than so often I want.

Therefore, the question is: How is it possible to have a button that when hit, will be possible to to exaclty the same and in a way that the project does not go on?
