Question

Multiple developers & workflow version control in different locations

Hi,

Two of our staff are now in different locations ( they moved with their spouses) and we are trying to set up a workflow.

The forum has advised that Captivate has issues working on a network so we think on a WAN using VPN it would be worse

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/780214?tstart=0

So we thought of sharing in the cloud by doing the follows

1. Storing everything in dropbox or git hub

2. People would check out the captivate files (git hub) or use the synched version (dropbox)

3. When people review they would push it acrobat.com then use the reviewer

http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/08/using-acrobat-com-for-adobe-captivate-project-reviews.html

Does this make sense ?

Is there a better way ?

Does the "automatically collect comments on my own server" for collaboration using webdav, sharepoint work ?

How do people do version control ?

PS We use google apps and many moon and thought of sending a zip file back and forth but that looked really messy

Seems like your question has not been answered....

Two options, I see:

1. use Github/Atlassian Sourcetree for Git control.  The actual version control is therefore in Github/ Bitbucket /CodeCommit.  You will probably have to use Git LFS (Large file support) for PSD and larger image files.  You could also try using these with Creative Cloud files as the actual repository.

2. folioformac.com has a control system based on git, made specifically for designers but not free.
