Question

Multiple hotspots: possible to have any hotspot correct?

I think was discussed before, but I didn't see a definitive answer.

I made a question where EITHER hotspot #1 OR hotspot #2 would be a correct answer, but on clicking either hotspot (not both) I get incorrect feedback. Is Captivate's normal behavior to treat hotspots as a "Boolean AND" where the user must select all hotspots to get correct feedback? Is there any way to treat them as "Boolean OR" so that any hotspot is correct?

Hello,

If you are using CP5/5.5 this will not be possible out of the box. All questions, inc. hotspot get a score only if all correct answers were submitted. So if you mark two hotspots as correct, the answer will only be considered correct if both are clicked.

Didn't try it out, but suspect that even the new partial scoring in CP6 will not solve this (but have to check it to be sure).

It is however possible to create your own hotspot question slide, using click boxes and other objects, and create an advanced action that will check if one of the two click boxes have been used. The score to report can be attached to a button.

Another possibility, with perhaps less scripting is to use the Mastery widget from InfoSemantics. There I'm certain that it allows you to create an OR scenario as you wish. Since it is an interactive widget, a score can be attached.

Thank you very much, Lilybiri. I don't know how to script advanced actions, and don't have an immediate need to pay for the widget, so this will have to remain a limitation for now.

By the way, I assume the widget you're referring to is called the "Interactive Master" widget shown on this site, right?
