Multiple issues with html5 output in responsive projects in Captivate 8

Hi, I'm new to Captivate. I usually use Storyline for eLearning content creation but I wanted to try Captivate to see if the single source idea (one file for desktop, tablet and mobile) really works.

I've created a simple responsive project with a slide that has a button (a shape used as a button) that is intended to show a 'popup' (some hidden content that I have grouped). The grouped content also has a close button to hide it again. I'm trying to mimic the layers functionality in Storyline.

I had to use Advanced Actions because I want to hide the content and then pause the slide (I found that if I just used show/hide, when I closed the popup the slide advanced).

The button appears in the html5 output, and I can click it, but nothing happens...

This is my demo page: http://www.cw.bc.ca/onlinecourses/development/calciumdisorders/intro/index.html

One other question... How do I set it up to auto-start? Why do I need to click play on the first slide?

Thanks!

What browser are you using, it's seems to work perfectly for me on IE11. It autoplays and popup displays when clicking the button.

If you are testing on a mobile device, it generally will not autoplay, you need to click the button.

I'm using Chrome v48.0.2x. We're stuck with IE8 on our network, and I know it won't even display in IE8...

Can you send me the project so that we may investigate it? You can upload it to a Shared location e.g. Dropbox and email the link to mdas@adobe.com

Thanks,

Mohana

Hi,

Do you have a Pause set up on Enter of the Slide or on start of the project? Can you post screenshots of your slide Properties panel and your button Properties panel?\

Thanks,

Mohana

Hi Mohana

There's no pause action at the start of the slide. I'm attaching the screenshots. I'm also seeing a black 'play' button over every page in tablet view (pics also attached). I'm guessing there's no way to attach the actual captivate file to a message?

The content of the 'popup' is grouped on the timeline into an object called popup_table

As TLCMediaDesign‌ said:

"If you are testing on a mobile device, it generally will not autoplay, you need to click the button."

Apple added this to iOS a version or two ago, as sites were launching 'popunders' that would launch with or without permission and play a video or sound. They made safari's default to launch media in a new browser as paused, and I think it got incorporated into WebKit from their recommendation.
