Multistate object question

Hello again,

I would like to have text window only appear on the click of a button.

Do I have to use an advanced action for that or can I simply use a multistate object that I toggle?

If so, how do I create an invisible standard state to make only the second state as the visible image/box I want to show?

Am I missing something?

Thanks for any help!

I have to leave now for a meeting, will be back in some hours.

Can you post a screenshot of the state view? And I would prefer to use 'Change State of...' to be very specific. Did you really follow the work flow I explained? I always double-check before replying a question.

Here is some reading, where I used multistates:

    1 action = 5 Toggle Buttons - Captivate blog

Creating a normal state that is invisible is pretty easy. Create the normal state with the text container (I recommend to use a smart shape as container - easier to style). Open state view (I always have it ready but I'm in Expert UI, if you are in the newbie UI, click the State view button). Duplicate the Normal state and label it. Then go back to the Normal state, delete the text and eventually set the Alpha for the Fill to 0% and the stroke width to 0.

However I'm not sure changing the state is what you need? My question: do you allow the user to return to this slide? If yes what do you want to see in that case: that text visible or not?

    Thanks a lot.

I did actually proceed as proposed before because it seemed like the obvious way.

Set an object a, create a state, set the alpha to 0%.

Then use another box to trigger "go to next state" of object a.

However it doesn´t appear. It stays invisible.

Yes the state when returning to the slide should always be invisible by default.

E.g. a text box that explains the usage of the onscreen buttons. Usually invisible and just to be shown if someone clicks on the "?" button.
