Question

My Captivate 8 trial subscription just ended. I need to purchase Cap 8, but my only option is to subscribe to (or start a new trial of) Cap 9.

As above,  even though I'm opening Captivate 8 and attempting to license my expired trial software, it looks like a got caught in a unique issue of timing where my Captivate 8 trial subscription ended after Captivate 9 was made available.  I get sent to the Captivate 9 subscription page if I try to purchase from the "Your Cap 8 Trial Has Expired" startup screen, or if I respond to the email from Adobe asking to extend my Cap 8 trial with a non-committal $30 subscription fee.  It is possible for me to subscribe to Captivate 8?  My client uses Captivate 8 and doesn't plan on updating to Captivate 9 for the time being.  For that reason, I specifically need Captivate 8 right now so that they can open, review, and provide feedback on the content I develop.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Thanks for the link and advice.  I've read through the instructions, logged into Adobe, and have the 64-bit files downloading as I type.  My only concern involves the last comment by Myrax32 on Sept 7th.  He stated that after installing the 8.0.1 application and attempting to secure a monthly subscription, he was only offered the Captivate 9 option.  This sounds like the situation I'm already in...my Cap 8 trial software is expired and when I use the links provides in the app, I can only subscribe to Cap 9.

Am I misreading his situation?  If I re-install the Cap 8.0.1 application from the direct links and attempt to secure a monthly subscription, will I be offered a version 8 key?  OR, do I have this backwards, and when I get a subscription key for Captivate 9, I can enter it into my Captivate 8 software.  The obvious issue there is I want to avoid Captivate 8 saying this is not a valid Cap 8 key.  Thanks again.

Glad to help!  Please see the followup response just added to Myrax on that thread...

In a nutshell, it's one of the differences between subscription vs. perpetual.  Subscriptions (only) can use either (or any) version, and generally don't use keys.  Perpetual is a fixed version instead, but never expires.
